Literature that may be relevant to evolution of QFD, Memorandum to Ford Project File

This is a description of the development of Interpretive Structural Modeling software along with a discussion of how it could be improved. Includes lengthy summaries of four published papers: : 1) Participative Methodology for Public Systems Planning 2) Unified Program Planning (Doug Hill, co-author helped with work to produce this paper) 3) Crossing Theory and Hierarchy Mapping 4) Effective Representations of Hierarchical Structures.  Note that QFD is an acronym for Quality Function Development.

GMU does not have this paper, I found it while going through old boxes in Sept 2011. Scott Staley might have a copy somewhere in his Ford Motor Company project file for the QFD materials. QFD was the acronym for Quality Function Deployment. It would be hard to find better descriptions of the development of ISM software and Warfield closes the memorandum with suggestions on how it could be improved or further developed. These are lengthy and knowledgeable summaries of four published papers, three of them written by Warfield The papers are: 1) Participative Methodology for Public Systems Planning 2) Unified Program Planning (Doug Hill, co-author helped with work to produce this paper) 3) Crossing Theory and Hierarchy Mapping 4) Effective Representations of Hierarchical Structures by Sugiyama et al. NOTE: In explanation of Warfield's first paragraph for this paper, I know from conversation between Alexander Christakis and Warfield that one of Clausing's students admired ISM IN PREFERENCE TO QFD although his admiration went unpublished because he was a foreigner and trying to get his degree. I am not sure of the name of the student. (r.w. circa 2011)
