The Enemies of Systems Science

Contends that there is an overall lack of recognition of systems as a useful tool. Suggests that enemies of systems science (real or virtual) are suppressing its application out of ignorance or malice.

This manuscript was found in papers left by Warfield. He did not send it in April 2009 with his last shipment to GMU library. It is a statement that there is lack of recognition of systems as a usable tool, ending with several references for study of the subject, all of the references to his own works, many of the references to web pages which have Warfield materials. ABSTRACT, written by Warfield: The large issues facing large organizations today, and especially governments, are largely systems issues. Such issues frequently arise from poorly designed systems. These are systems which could have been designed using systems science. Because they were not, it is reasonable to suppose that enemies of systems science (real or virtual) suppressed the application of systems science deliberately or out of inexcusable ignorance. In light of the potentially disastrous consequences of the failures of such systems, it is appropriate to identify the enemies of systems science, likely reasons for their animosities, and the possibility of overcoming the animosities that work against the acceptance of the application of systems science in public life.
