Book Reviews: Part 4-Economics from 1800 to 1825

A collection of several unfinished manuscripts. A total of 15 pages containing biographical sketches of 53 economic philosophers which Warfield planned to use in his ongoing project that used ISM to structure historical economic concepts. He completed drafts of Parts 1, 2 and 3 but planned to complete a total of 11. See notes field for a list of the different thinkers Warfield had selected to focus. For the completed drafts, see “Book Reviews on Economics: Part 1,” “Book Reviews on Economics: Part 2” and “Book Reviews on Economics: Part 3.”

This is a group of several unfinished manuscripts or working papers created by Warfield for his ECONOMICS RESEACH studies A printout of the pages is in Economics Research Note-binder No. 6. Here are 15 pages containing short bio-sketch of 53 persons whose writings were planned for part of John's ongoing project Economics Research, but he never finished his discussion and analysis of the writings of these authors. Only Parts 1, 2, and 3 of Warfield's Economics book review project exist and even those three papers are simple drafts, not finished papers. Warfield had set for himself the task of organizing economics concepts into sets of elements which could then be structured using ISM. Book Reviews Part 4 could not be called an unfinished manuscript but rather a plan for writing one.

These "book review" papers were a product of the early part of the year 2003. But that was the year in which Warfield had decided to write yet another book. Economics research and other projects were put on hold. As far as I can tell it was about 2007 before he returned to looking at the Economics papers, and by that time we were packing again for another move. By another year time had run out. Warfield's Economics Research remains in outline, only, not completed. There were over fifty economists whose writings Warfield had intended to review. Their names were: Part 4, 1800-1825: Bastiat, Dupuit, Mill, Marx and Engels; Part 5, 1825-1850: Walras, Jevans, George, Menger, Marshall, Clark, Pareto; Part 6, 1850-1875: Bohm-Bowerk, Wiksell, Weber, Fisher; Part 7, 1875-1900: Pigou, Von Mises, Schumpeter, Keynes, Hazlitt, Sraffa, Hayek; Part 8, 1900-1910: Harrod, Robinson, Hicks, Georgescu-Roegen, Leontief, Boulding, Coase; Part 9, 1910-1925: Friedman, Samuelson, H. Simon, Heilbroner, Modigliani, Arrow, Debreu; Part 10, 1925-1932: Greenspan, Clower, Rothbard, Becker, Downs, Sowell, Mundell, Salinas (Price) J. Simon; Part 11, 1933 Onward: Leijonhufvud, Laffer, Mankiu, Wanniski, Rockwell, Skousen, Shostak.
