Middle Human Science: Three Levels of Human Science
Pending
The title page of this slide show gives the date as Bertalanffy Lecture August 3, 2002, but that is not quite correct. This is the 25 page document which Warfield had contrived after learning that his hour long 75 page slide show was not going to work at the ISSS conference keynote speech and that he had to shorten it. He shortened it to this 25 page presentation, but by the day of the conference he realized that even 25 pages was far too much, and his eventual keynote remarks consisted of a "Bertalanffy Lecture" presentation with only 11 slides lasting 10 or 15 minutes. Warfield did use this 25 page slide show during an evening workshop following the official daytime sessions.
While not as thorough and detailed as the 75 page PowerPoint he had already prepared , Warfield's MIDDLE HUMAN SCIENCE does manage within the 25 slides to introduce ideas from Foucault, DellBecq and Van de Van as welll as Aristotle in the effort to explain the Warfield synthesis into a modern approach to systems thinking, in which visual graphics play an important role, and contributions from Friedman, Harary and Ross Ashby are recognized.
