C3P Implementation Strategy Workshops #2 and #3 (Summary Report: Interactive Management Workshop held at Ford Motor Company Center for Interactive Design Rouge Office Building, Dearborn, Michigan on May 16-17 and May 23-25, 1995) Ford Motor Company Infor
Summary: Pending
Companions to this report are two short reports (titled CAD/CAM/CAE & PIM (C3P) Implementation Planning Interpretation Brief) issued May 18, 1995 and June 1, 1995. The two interpretation brief reports are stored in the same location as the 72 page SUMMARY Report, Box 13, Folder 8.
C3P is the acronym for CAD/CAM/CAE/PIM (Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Computer Aided Engineering, Product Information Management,), in short the software tools used by Ford in all their products.
Different departments in Ford Motor Company used differing software packages which did not interface so that coordinated manufacturing and design in the entire company was an impossibility. The challenge was how to redesign and integrate into a single system the software packages used by all parts of Ford Motor Company..
This report documents the fourth and fifth IM workshop on the topic of C3P Strategy for Ford. The first such workshop had been November 22, 1994. Continuing workshops since then succeeded in refining the problems and settling on whether to try to coordinate several existing software systems or whether to change to a single software design process. The next job was planning the implementation of the single software design system by defining tasks to be completed and the order in which they should be done. This was done in the C3P Workshops #2 and #3.
