A companion to this report is a second short report (titled CAD/CAM/CAE & PIM (C3P) Implementation Planning Interpretation Brief) issued May 5, 1995. It is only ten pages long, giving a quick first look at the workshop activities and results, while the 53 page Workshop Summary Report of May 22 covered the same material with highly detailed tables and lists. The two reports belong together and are stored together in Box 13 Folder 9..
By the time this April workshop took place, the combined Ford projects CAD/CAM/CAE/PIM had become known as C3P and a new executive had been hired by Ford to take charge of the C3P project. His name was Richard Riff. The work done in his C3P Project Office was now called the C3P Implementation Strategy. This April workshop therefore, was titled C3P Implementation Strategy Workshop #1.
Actually the April 25-29 meeting was the third Interactive Management workshop held for Ford on the topic of C3P Strategy. The FIRST had been on 22 November 1994, the SECOND was during the period 13-16 December 1994.
This third IM workshop (or CP3 #1 if you choose to call it that) continued to use exactly the same methodology as was laid out for the earlier IM Workshops. Scot Staley's office was asked to conduct, manage and facilitate. By this time John had come to the end of his contract, and was no longer working for Ford Motor Company. It was hoped that Interactive Management would spread through the corporation now that Ford personnel had been trained in its use.
The purpose of this April IM workshop was to build on a foundation laid by earlier IM workshops, The next step in the process was to identify and organize the problems with implementing the C3P strategy worldwide and to determine specific tasks which must be accomplished to complete the implementation .A list of 112 problems was generated using Nominal Group Technique, from which 35 problems of higher relative importance determined by participant voting were structured using ISM. 69 of the 112 problems were placed in categories. Using ISM the group generated a list of 86 essential tasks which must be performed for C3P implementation
The report contains 9 appendices two of which are a problematique and a task dependency structure too large for the page. They are in back pockets of the report. The report contains 12
tables and 4 figure.
As concluding recommendations, the report suggests that the remaining 112 problems be dealt with in a following workshop, and that after the results of the first workshop are studied that a second cycle of planning-worksho-followup be conducted to produce an options field and perhaps metrics for implementation process.
