The workshop used the Interactive Management process to facilitate a dialogue between the participants on issues that can be identified as inhibiting a cohesive and systematic approach to fuel economy improvement across Ford vehicle lines.
This is an excellent example of a well written and well organized Interactive Management workshop report, written by Phil Ernzen, a retired Ford employee who is now active as an IM consultant in the Detroit area. The report is in the format preferred by Warfield, consisting of a short summary booklet prepared for quick review by managers and sponsors, supported by an accompanying much longer volume heavy with detail. The smaller booklet contains a 4-page executive summary discussing Background, Workshop Products, Conclusions and Recommendations and also large folding printouts of the graphic displays (problematiques) produced in the workshop, so that much information is available for overview at a single glance. In addition the small booklet has an appendix giving the name and address of every single person who participated in any way in the sessions. The larger booklet contains everything again which was in the small one, and also many pages of explanation and data dealing with the 78 PROBLEM ELEMENTS which the workshop had identified. It also has a full table of contents listing appendices tables, figures.
There were 17 Participants and 15 Observers
Also in the folder is a handwritten note to John Warfield, signed by Scott Staley.
