Complexity, The Human Dilemma and Fisheries, or How Do We Resolve the Mess We're In?
Summary: Pending
This is a copy of a series of 39 slides presented by David Mackett in a talk under the sponsorship of the CALIFORNIA SEA GRANT EXTENSION PROGRAM, in La Jolla. David's very nice transparencies give description of Interactive Management and how it is being used in the Fisheries. He has copies of many familiar IM figures, such as DOS, Big Mess, Sigma 5, Argyris' loop, and others.
Dave sent the manuscript for John in Feb 1994, asking for his comments on it. Dave had also included in the package several photos of the SWFC situation room set up to do IM Workshops, as well as a diagram of the room, drawn by SWFC artist Ken Raymond. It would have been nice to have this for John's book, but I think that Mackett's packet arrived too late for John to use any of the material in his book Science of Generic Design, which was already nearly ready for publication at ISU Press.
I know we must have sent this packet of slides and photos to GMU for the Warfield Collection, but I can't find it under this title. However, I did spot the possible location, if you look at the GMU Finding Aid in Box 49, Folder 16, among correspondence items, there is a title "Correspondence: David Mackett, Photos for a Science of Generic Design"
