The Marquand Papers in the Dept of Rare Books and Special Collections of Princeton U Library contain some significant items for the early history of computer design. This essay is a summary of those materials, as well as an attempt to answer some outstanding questions about them. The principal dramatis personae in this tale are CS Peirce and A Marquand. Contains 11 black and white pictures and diagrams; contains two appendixes.
