Managing the Complexity of Software through Knowledge Technology
Summary: Pending
Rose found this paper in John's boxes of papers. It is formatted and organized completely as if it were an offprint prepared from a conference paper but there is no publication data on the pages, so it must be a conference paper.
ABSTRACT by the author:
In this paper it is found that knowledge technology is necessary for software product improvement after analyzing the complexity in software and software process in the first. Then, the Sigma-N concept by J. N. Warfield is clarified and applied to integrate the five principles of software engineering by B. W. Boehm and the six principles of software process improvement by Watts S. Humphrey. The results can explain both the experiences from the survey by SEI and the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge by IEEE.
This author Wan Jianping is a long time admirer of John's work and has corresponded with him in the past, also written articles about Warfield's work. Yang Jiangmei is either Jingping's supervising professor, or his wife, or both. They are both at South China Univ of Tech in Guangzhou, where Wan Jianping is now a professor.
