A Science of Generic Design [Draft sent to GMU PRESS February 1989]. 2 vols.(typed double spaced) v1 light tan cover; v2 light blue cover, spiralbound. Front covers on each volume signed & dated by Warfield 26 February 1989, and notation: "Sent to GMU Press early February" Vol. I holds chapters 1 - 8, and is 630 pages. Vol. II holds chapters 9, 10 and the Appendices and Indexes, and is 280 pages. The book manuscript was submitted to GMU press in early 1989. Then, after a wait of about 9 months Warfield was told that GMU Press had rejected the manuscript. This was in spite of favorable reviews from all concerned, including an anonymous outside reviewer hired by the Press itself. Most galling of all was the fact that Warfield was never notified of the fate of his manuscript until he himself repeatedly called the Press, and other university offices, to try and find out what had become of his submission. Finally he received a mere telephone call with the rejection news. I am not sure, but I believe that Warfield never even received a formal rejection letter from the Press. R.w. circa 1999 or 2000
