SHE HUI XI TONG-JI HUA GONG ZUO, 1993 is a translation into Chinese of Societal Systems: Planning, Policy and Complexity originally published by John Wiley in 1976. Editors: Yin Yuan and Xue Ming Huang. One of the proofreaders is Dr. Li Da Xu, who is a professor at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, and has written articles for the journal Systems Research. It was through Professor Li's efforts that the translation project was arranged. The overall project of translation was under the direction of Professor Zhang Bihui, Chairman of the Wuhan Science and Technology Commission, and Director of the Administrative Office of Wuhan East Lake High Technology Development Zone. There were difficulties in translation due to problems of fitting Chinese characters inside the graphics and then getting them printed. The Chinese version is not the full text; several portions of the English text were left untranslated and not printed in the Chinese version. In 1996, Mr. Qu Duan, a Graduate Research Assistant at GMU in 1996 reviewed the book and prepared the following itemized description of the Chinese version: ===============================================================

All "References" section in each chapter.======== On the printed cover of the Chinese version the top line of characters is SOCIETAL SYSTEMS. The second and third line, written in red is PLANNING WORK, POLICY AND COMPLEXITY (Qu explained that the Chinese had no word for Planning in the context used here, and that the words "Planning Work" were substituted.) The fourth line of Chinese characters, written in white, says: Author: John N. Warfield. The fifth line says: Translators: Bi Jan Gao, Ping Gao, Huai ZhuXie, Chuan Yiu Wang. The sixth line says: Proofreaders: Bi Jan Gao, Li Da Xu. (Qu explained that Bi Jan Gao served both as a translator and also a co-proofreader, with Dr. Li). Below the Chinese characters can be found three lines of English letters, which are called the Chinese Pinyin (phonetic spelling) of the name of the book. SHE HUI XI TONG is a phonetic rendering of the word "Societal" and JI HUA GONG ZUO is the Chinese phonetic symbols for "Systems." And ZHENGOE YU FU ZAXING is Chinese phonetic for "Planning Work and Complexity." Finally, in Chinese characters at the bottom right corner of the front cover, is the name of the publisher, Hubei Sci Tech Press.
