Structural Thinking: Organizing Complexity Through Disciplined Activity: Reprint

Reprint of paper with same title that was published with errors. The paper describes the Interactive Management process as a powerful approach to in-depth learning about a complex situation, which then provides a well-supported foundation for an organized attack to bring a complex situation under control. Scott Staley's contribution of data and experiences in the Ford Motor Company Workshops are used as empirical examples of the use of the Interactive Management methodologies. For the original version, see “Structural Thinking: Organizing Complexity Through Disciplined Activity.”

This reprint done at Warfield's office is a correction of the publisher's offprint. GMU might not have the reprint. If GMU does have it would be in Box 11 Folder 33 along with the incorrect published version. The published paper appeared in Systems Research, 13:1 (March 1996): 47-67 but it had misprints, so Warfield redid the error pages and reprinted the entire article and issued it as a "Report" which he used as a distribution copy to colleagues asking for offprints of this paper.
