Metrics for Measuring Complexity

A booklet consisting of 4 pages of introductory matter about the sponsoring computer society activities, and 48 pages of slides from John Warfield. The slides are taken from two previous PowerPoint lectures: “Managing the Unmanageable Metrics of Complexity” and “Why Johnny Can't Design Software.”

This title is for a booklet. GMU finding aid does not list it. I did not save the booklet hard copy at home, I don't think, because the slide shows inside were already cataloged. But I did make this database record, because it was an actual presentation by Warfield - it was a talk using TWO PowerPoint slide shows which I have already entered in this database under their individual titles. I guess I could have scanned and saved the 3 introductory title and preface pages, PLUS THE ENTIRE BOOKLET but I didn't bother to do so. I wrote down everything on the introductory pages, below, and did not save the rest of the booklet, which is described below.

Under a special title dreamed up by the Computer Society sponsoring committee, this is a booklet consisting of 4 pages of introductory matter about the sponsoring computer society activities, and 48 pages of slides from John Warfield. The booklet was printed and distributed by Software Process Improvement Network as a handout to the audience for Warfield's talk. The introductory matter had a title page stating that "LISTnet's Long Island Software Process Improvement Network & The IEEE Long Island Section Computer Society present METRICS FOR MEASURING COMPLEXITY, [by] Dr. John N. Warfield, George Mason University, May 9, 2001." Inside are printed copies of Warfield's two slide shows 1) Managing the Unmanageable: The Metrics of Complexity, 28 slides from Warfield's PowerPoint slide #MTU44 and 2) Why Johnny Can't Design Software(no title page, just all of the 20 slides from Warfield's #MTU10, which enlarged the booklet from 28 too 48 pages altogether. SEE ALSO the records for following two titles listed in Textual Materials Access database: 1)Managing the Unmanageable Metrics of Complexity, Lecture 5 2) Why Johnny Can't Design Software, Lecture 10, Presented at IEEE Southern Maryland Joint Communications, Computers and Electromagnetic Compatibility Chapters, Lexington Park, MD, 24 April 2000.

The introductory pages of the booklet gave names of the Topic Selection Committee members who probably arranged the mtg. Their names are: Jim Kinkaid at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., Stephen Gristock at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and Ken Kessler at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. I discarded this booklet since after the first 3 pages it is just a copy of Warfield's slide shows, not really a publication, and the booklet isn't listed on the internet. NOTE: THERE IS ONE SLIDE IN THE COLLECTION WHICH DOESN'T SEEM TO FIT, MAYBE IT WAS FROM SOME OTHER SLIDE SHOW, IT IS A PROBLEMATIQUE, TITLED: "FIGURE A FORD/VCC C3P Cax/PIM PLANNING PROBLEMATIQUE OF ISSUES IF VCC ADOPTS C3P (SCENARIO #1)"
