This is the abstract for the paper, written by Warfield: "The following matching question is posed: suppose one sets out to design an academic curriculum for higher education whose purpose is to prepare graduates to provide leadership in working to resolve the most challenging issues facing societies today. What strategy can one apply to match such a curriculum to that set of challenging issues? The strategy that is recommended here is to view existing curricula as resource banks to be tapped as required by the new curriculum, and to design the new curriculum to meet specific requirements that can be identified through study of the features of the most challenging issues (the issue features) and those features of the available scientific literature (the science features) that offer the most evident match to the issue features.”
A Matching Question
Explores how to design an academic curriculum for higher education that actually prepares graduates to be in leadership positions where they can work with the complex issues facing the world. Includes photographs of an Interactive Management Workshop held in Kalamazoo, MI, in August 2007.
