Case Study for an Economics School of Thought (ESOT) 5

A summary of 15th century economic theory that focuses on the influential figures from that era, their guiding philosophies, problems associated with optimizing their philosophies, and the solutions developed to ameliorate the problems. One of two “case studies” Warfield wrote using his ESOT template to guide the research findings in a manner that could be somewhat calibrated. One of several short papers Warfield created for his Economics Research Studies. See also, “Case Study Format” and “Case Study for an Economics School of Thought (ESOT) 6.”

This paper was part of Warfield's collection for his Economics Research studies. He had placed a copy of it in his Economics Research Note-binder No. 5 and listed it in his Index of economics study papers. The paper is a one-page summary of economic theory in the 15th century, approached from Warfield analysis searching for influential persons of that era, their guiding philosophies, the problems associated with optimizing their philosophies, and the solutions brought forward to ameliorate the problems. A fascinating thumbnail view of unscrupulous colonialism. This is one of only two "case studies" authored by Warfield, using his "ESOT" template to guide the research and organize research findings in a manner that could be calibrated somewhat. Several more "case studies" were in the offing, in his notes and papers, but he completed only two.
