Paradigm Villages and Rivers of Science
A discussion of the possible connections and avenues of future research on “Rivers of science” and “Paradigm Villages.” Warfield defines the former as “those long-lived flows of development of concepts such as the logic of Aristotle for which a clear flow of development can be traced for over 2,000 years; and such as Newtonian mechanics evolving into modern-day astronomy; for which contributions rely on a knowledge of the nature of the scientific flow.” Paradigm Villages are described as “the name given to the rise of groups of “members” centered around (so-far) relatively short-lived flows of development of concepts such as cybernetics, or the systems theory of Bertalanffy, or the Keynesian theory of economics.”
