Quality Control for Interactive Management Applications
A talk outline of a presentation for Faculty members at Defense Systems Management College, Bldg., 205, Room 104, Fort Belvoir, VA on 16 August 1996. Includes summary of the ideas to be presented, followed by a complete list of transparencies and handouts. See also, part 2 titled "Quality Control for Interactive Management Processes.”
Publications Related to Computers
A list of Warfield authored or co-authored works up to 1996, with subsections for Books, Bibliographies, Papers and Monographs. Include complete citation for each title.
Publications on Complexity, 1994
This document organizes publications relevant to work by John N. Warfield that relate to complexity into five Parts. In the first Part, papers and monographs by Warfield are cited in categories. Some of the entries fall into more than one category. The categories adopted for this presentation are (in alphabetical order): Applications, Education, Graphical Representations, Interactive Human Processes, Mathematics of Modeling, Organizations and Human Behavior (these two topics being grouped in order to discuss the human being in a context), and Philosophy. Within each category, publications are sequenced by date of publication.” This bibliography has been superseded by “Warfield Publications on Complexity: Papers and Monographs Characterized by Themes, Books and Monographs, Bibliographies,” and “Annotated Bibliography on Complexity Research: Reports, Papers, Bibliographies, Cell Packets, and Indexes from IASIS, 1993-1996.”
Proste Modele Systemowe Oparte Na Skomplikowanych Zalozeniach: Klucz do Spojnosci w Zlozonym Uniwersum
Published in Polish, this paper deals with the use of a Generic Design Science to organize knowledge prior to its use in construction of working models. The Domain of Science diagram is used as a key to organization of knowledge. Topics in this paper include "referential transparency" "deep and shallow logic" "developing a science of design" and "detractors to effective system design", which was a table showing effects of variety, parsimony, saliency and a Demosophia on the process of effective decision-making. The English title is “Simple System Models Based on Sophisticated Assumptions”.
Prose-Graphics Outline of a Science of Complexity
A title page plus a set of eight transparencies, all of them new in 1999. Prepared for use as a handout for an Interactive Management Workshop taught for Phil Ernzen and PSOL students in Room 311 Johnson Center, 15-18 February 1999. See notes field for a list of the transparencies.
A Prose-Graphics Glossary of Complexity
A draft small encyclopedia of the thought and work of Warfield. The manuscript is indexed and also contains six appendices, which are chiefly bibliographic lists of various sorts.
Propositions and Elaborations, notes on February 19, 1997
An unfinished paper where Warfield discusses ideas on complexity beginning with C. S. Peirce and leading toward work at Battelle and later.
Proposal: WEEKLY LECTURE SERIES ON COMPLEXITY FOR FALL, 1998
Warfield’s formal proposal to George Mason University to conduct a series of lectures on complexity. The proposal was accepted and the lectures occurred between September and December 1998 at the Johnson Center, George Mason University.
Proposal: Demosophia - Type Situation Room Construction at George Mason University
A proposal to the Institute of Public Policy at George Mason University to create a room designed for Interactive Management workshops. See also, Group Design Laboratory Use and Facilities" which describes a previous Demosophia. Later incorporated into "The Wandwaver Solution."
Proposal: A Users Guide to Systems Methodology,, Proposal to National Science Foundation
A proposal to the National Science Foundation that Warfield carry on the work with Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) from his new job at the University of Virginia. For further information, "A User's Guide to Systems Methodology.”
